Police arrest 17-year-old in Md. jogger attacks

WALKERSVILLE, Md. (AP) — Maryland State Police say they’re charging a 17-year-old boy with attempted rape after three women were attacked in a Walkersville park.

Sgt. Marc Black said Tuesday that the youth is charged with three counts each of attempted second-degree rape and third-degree sexual offense. The Associated Press generally doesn’t identify juvenile defendants.

The charges stem from attacks last month in Community Park on two women, ages 37 and 50, and a similar attack in November on a 57-year-old woman. Two women told police they were jogging April 6 when a man grabbed the younger one from behind and tried to pull down her pants. Police say her companion was assaulted when she came to her friend’s defense.

The woman attacked in November told police she fought off her assailant.
