49ers add another offensive lineman in Thomas

SANTA CLARA, Calif. (AP) — The San Francisco 49ers have chosen Clemson offensive lineman Brandon Thomas with the final selection of the NFL draft’s third round, at No. 100 on Friday night.

Thomas became the team’s second offensive lineman picked on Day 2 after USC center Marcus Martin went 70th overall in the third round. While he played left tackle and left guard at Clemson, Thomas is now listed as a guard in the NFL. He is recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee suffered during a workout last month. That means he will be listed as physically unable to perform initially.

49ers general manager Trent Baalke stayed active as usual, pulling off five trades. Most notably, the Niners acquired wide receiver Stevie Johnson from Buffalo.
