Lee Enterprises posts $1.5M profit for fiscal 2Q

DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — Lee Enterprises, publisher of the St. Louis Post Dispatch, Rapid City Journal and 44 other newspapers, says it posted a $1.5 million profit in its fiscal second-quarter, reversing a loss in the same period a year ago.

For the quarter ended March 30, the Davenport, Iowa-based publisher’s profit was 3 cents per share and compares with a loss of $6 million, or 12 cents per share, a year ago.

Excluding one-time items, Lee posted an adjusted profit of $2.6 million, or 5 cents per share.

Operating revenue fell 4 percent to $154.1 million from $160.6 million.

Combined print and digital advertising and marketing services revenue decreased 4 percent to $102.7 million. But on a stand-alone basis, digital advertising and marketing services revenue rose 10 percent to $17.4 million.
