Chilean president to visit White House on June 30

WASHINGTON (AP) — Chile’s President Michelle Bachelet (bah-cheh-LET’) is planning a visit with President Barack Obama next month.

The White House announced the June 30 meeting on Thursday. The announcement said their discussions will include global security, trade and cooperation on energy and science.

Bachelet was sworn back into office two months ago after a four-year break.

Bachelet is a moderate socialist who became Chile’s first female president in 2006. The Chilean Constitution does not allow a president to serve two consecutive terms.
