San Mar Children’s Home, Inc.

San Mar was founded in 1883 as the Orphanage in downtown Hagerstown and moved to San Mar in 1927. We have provided residential care to approximately 4000 children and youth since beginning operation. San Mar currently provides residential programs to at-risk adolescent girls in four group homes; a treatment foster care program for boys and girls of all ages (including new borns); and through the Graff Life Readiness Academy the youth learn skills to help them become productive members of society. The children benefit from a safe and structured environment where they can find help with behavioral and emotional struggles and they find support to move forward with their education. Professional counseling is available for the youth and his/her family in preparing for his/her return to a stable home. Note: Of San Mar’s 80 employees nearly 20 have been employed here for 10 years or more. Three have been here for 30 years or more; 6 employees for 20 or more years. We love these children and are called to help them. Come visit our beautiful campus.
