Railroad repairs to close portion of US 301

WASHINGTON – A portion of U.S. 301 in Maryland will be closed this weekend for railroad crossing repairs.

The highway will be closed in both directions south of Maryland Route 4 in Upper Marlboro between Chew Road and the Marlboro Square area.

The road closure was expected to begin at 5 p.m. Friday for the northbound lanes and at 7 p.m. Friday for the southbound lanes. The entire road should reopen at 5 a.m. Monday.

To avoid the closure, regional travelers should use Maryland routes 4 or 5 or Interstate-495.

Local travelers should use Maryland routes 4 or 223 or Rosaryville Road as a detour.

CSX Transportation will make the repairs to the crossing.
