From our friends at Friends of White Flint comes news that the White Flint Mall post office is set to close in a matter of days, well before a replacement post office will be ready to open.
Friends of White Flint published a photo of this special notice notifying customers that the post office will close “Effective COB, Friday, April 12, 2014.”
April 12 is Saturday. Friday is April 11.
Whatever the case, the timing is unexpected. The United States Postal Service announced in February that it would move the White Flint Mall retail post office to a Nicholson Lane shopping center.
The move is necessary as White Flint Mall approaches demolition to redevelop. In July 2013, when the USPS first announced its intention to move, a real estate specialist said the post office’s lease in the mall didn’t run out until May 31, 2014.
White Flint will be without a post office of its own for at least a few months. The notice says the new White Flint post office, set for 5056-B Nicholson Lane, won’t open until July.
