Bechtel readies handover of Silver Line

Don’t look now, but the Silver Line may be making real progress. Just days after news came that riders could be boarding by Independence Day, the contractor in charge says its work is done.

Bechtel, lead contractor of the Dulles Transit Partners joint venture, expects to submit the project for approval within the next few days, possibly Wednesday, WAMU.org reports.

Following that, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority will determine in a two-week review period whether the Silver Line is “substantially complete” —meaning all its problems have been rectified. Bechtel tried to clear this hurdle in February when it previously declared the rail line “substantially complete” only to be rebuffed by MWAA.
