Community Crisis Services, Inc. (CCSI) serves individuals and families in crisis throughout Prince George’s County every hour of every day of the year. We are often the first point of contact for individuals in crisis – seeking disaster services, shelter placement, social services, to report child or adult abuse, suicide prevention/ intervention counseling, or simply seeking a compassionate listener. This past year, our agency answered more than 143,000 calls from individuals and families in crisis and in need, including over 42,000 calls seeking homeless services. Our Warm Nights partnership with the Department of Social Services and over 35 congregations provided over 5,200 bednights of shelter and remains the only Metro DC area emergency hypothermia shelter that accommodates families with children. Information and Referral Services include: 211 Maryland – linking callers with health and human services information/ referrals and partnering in crisis response, disaster and emergency services; and Prince George’s County OHEP/MEAP status reporting – streamlining/ improving responsiveness in helping low-income Marylanders pay their heating bills, minimize heating crises, and make energy costs more affordable.
