Maryland officer injured after being struck by vehicle

WASHINGTON — A Prince George’s County police officer is injured after being struck by a vehicle in Clinton.

Shortly before 1 p.m., county police responded to a burglary and domestic dispute along the 8600 block of Temple Hills Road, says Lt. Bill Alexander, a county police spokesman. Once they arrived, officers saw two men running from the home.

The men got into a vehicle, but as officers tried to stop them, the men sped away and struck one of the officers, Alexander says. The officers shot their guns toward the vehicle, but the men escaped the scene. The officer suffered minor injuries, Alexander says.

After the incident, the men arrived at local hospitals with gunshot wounds. The investigation is ongoing.
