Cherry Blossom Festival needs volunteers

WASHINGTON — Imagine the thrill of guiding huge helium balloons of characters, including YoGabba Gabba and Paddington Bear, down a parade route.

The National Cherry Blossom Festival is looking for parade route volunteers on Saturday, April 12.

In addition to holding ropes for the giant balloons, volunteers may act as ushers to help people find their seats in the viewing stands, or direct foot traffic telling people where to go.

Participants need to be at least 18. They also need to be friendly, cooperative and reliable, and for their service, volunteers get a commemorative T-shirt.

Volunteers can register on the Cherry Blossom Festival website.
