High demand: Washington leads the nation in binge-watching

Washington, Dallas and San Francisco rank as the cities that binge the most when it comes to streaming multiple episodes of the same television show in a row, according to Comcast.

The Comcast survey, conducted by Harris Poll, says 88 percent of Washington customers who stream programming admit to binging at least one a week, tying Dallas and San Francisco.

In Philadelphia, New York, Los Angeles and Houston, more than 80 percent admit to being binge-watchers.

Other findings from the survey say over half of binge-watchers would rather watch current season episodes instead of seasons past. Rick Grimes of “The Walking Dead” was the top pick for a binge-watching buddy, and 52 percent say they have neglected something while binge-watching. Of those, 9 percent say they’ve neglected their own personal hygiene.

What are Washington viewers binging on? According to Comcast, the top eight on-demand shows in the Washington market are:

  • “Game of Thrones”
  • “Sleepy Hollow”
  • “The Blacklist”
  • “True Detective”
  • “Scandal”
  • “Walking Dead”
  • “Being Mary Jane”
  • “Homeland”
