WASHINGTON — The Navy daredevil air show Blue Angels are back in action, starting next weekend.

Grounded because of budget cuts last year, the blue and gold Navy FA-18 Hornets will be thundering overhead in their first show March 21 at the Navy Air Facility in El Centro, Calif.

They have been grounded for nearly a year.

El Centro is the traditional winter home of the Blue Angels, and about 35,000 people are expected for that first show.

This year marks the 68th year for the Blue Angels, and officials estimate 15 million people will take in one of their 35 shows between now and Nov. 8.

They’ll be flying in the D.C. region — in Ocean City, Md. in June – and at the Oceana Naval Air Station in Norfolk in September.
