WASHINGTON – A Falls Church man died after he was hit by a car crossing the street in Merrifield Wednesday morning.
Fairfax County police say Leroy Jewell, 64, was trying to cross from Gallows Road to Belleforest Drive when he was hit by a Toyota Corolla about 7 a.m.
Jewell was taken to a local hospital where he died, police say.
The driver stayed at the scene.
Police don’t believe that speed or alcohol played a role in the crash.
