Two snow fights break out around D.C. area Monday

WASHINGTON – Not letting the fresh snow go to waste, two friendly snowball fights broke out around the area Monday.

Nearly 150 people gathered on the National Mall in front of the north entrance to the Smithsonian Castle for a snowball fight. Organizers changed venues to the event citing too much snow buildup at the original designated location in Dupont Circle

In Arlington, about 60 people gathered in Quincy Park for a snowball fight that was dubbed the “Battle of Ballston.”

Unlike the fight on the Mall, which was a two-sided, free-for-all, the battle in Arlington had rules and referees.

Organizers also collected donations, which they say will go towards research for Down Syndrome.
