Alexandria is for lovers

WASHINGTON – Hearts are fluttering in Alexandria, Va.

According to Amazon, Alexandria is the fifth most romantic city in the U.S. based on its residents’ purchases of romantic music, books, movies and “sexual wellness” products.

The online retailer analyzed sales of these items in cities with populations greater than 100,000 during the past year.

San Antonio apparently has the most Romeos and Juliets, according to Amazon, although this is the city’s first appearance on the list of love. Other cities full of hopeless romantics include Murfreesboro, Tenn., and Erie, Pa.

Having a city name that references amore doesn’t seem to trigger Cupid’s arrow however. Cities like Romance, W.Va., and Loving, Ky., didn’t make the list.

For all of you looking to take notes from Alexandria, Amazon has suggested music and books to help set the mood.
