Spring break-like weather on hand before winter returns

WASHINGTON – Get ready for a spring break from the cold weather.

Warmer temperatures are on the docket for this weekend, just in time to get that filthy car washed and to send your stir-crazy kids out of the house to play.

Temps will drop back into the mid 20s Friday night. But Saturday the region will warm up with highs nearing 50 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Saturday night, expect the temperature to drop into the 30s with areas of fog after midnight.

And the warm weather will continue through Sunday, when temps will be in the low 50s.

Unfortunately, the reprieve ends Monday when temperatures will top out in the 30s. Snow or rain are likely. Tuesday and Wednesday could also bring rain.

According to ABC7, its possible the precipitation could be all snow Sunday night into Monday. But because ground temperatures will be so warm Sunday, its unclear how much, if any, snow will stick to roads.

There’s another chance for precipitation at the end of next week but its unclear how much or whether it will be snow or rain, according to ABC7 meteorologist Alex Liggitt.
