About a month after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the Kraze Burgers at 4733 Elm St. has closed up shop.

The Korean-burger chain’s first U.S. location got much fanfare when it opened in 2011, but bankruptcy filings for the Bethesda location showed it had $283,000 in liabilities and owed $2,700 in property and sales taxes, according to the Washington Business Journal.

The Fairfax-based chain recently opened a Kraze Burgers Express in the remodeled food court at Westfield Montgomery Mall. It also has locations in Germantown, Leesburg, Tysons Corner and Barracks Row, though it’s unknown how the Bethesda bankruptcy will affect those stores.

The space, at a prominent corner across from Bethesda Row and down the street from the planned Bethesda Purple Line station, will no doubt draw a lot of interest from potential tenants.

The property is owned by Bethesda-based Greenhill Realty.
