Md. Polar Bear Plunge canceled

WASHINGTON – Organizers have canceled the Maryland State Police Polar Bear Plunge, which was set for Saturday morning.

The 18th annual plunge into Chesapeake Bay from Sandy Point Park in Annapolis was canceled shortly before 8 a.m. when the beaches were closed due to high waves, snow and ice.

The accompanying PlungeFest has also been canceled. Organizers have told people not to come to Sandy Point Park. Maryland Special Olympics, which benefits from the event, says they’re working to set up a new Plunge “in the near future.”
