Pedestrian, 74, struck by car in Springfield dies

WASHINGTON – A 74-year-old man died after being struck by a car in Springfield Sunday, Jan. 19, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Police say Thomas Sullivan of Springfield was crossing Old Keene Mill Road, but not in a crosswalk, just before 8 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 19 when he was struck by an 80- year-old Springfield man was driving a 2008 Mazda 323.

Sullivan was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital and was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police say it appears the pedestrian was at fault.

The driver has not been charged.
