Ice Cream Jubilee coming to The Yards this spring

Another tenant has been announced for The Yards project in Southeast D.C.: an ice cream shop from local ice cream purveyor Ice Cream Jubilee.

The 1,076-square-foot shop will be located in the Lumber Shed building, which is also home to restaurants Agua 301 and Osteria Morini.

The shop, which is expected to open in the spring, will be the first retail location from D.C. resident Victoria Lai. Lai’s creations won the people’s choice award at the 2013 DC Scoop ice cream competition at Union Market.

Lai moved to Washington, D.C. to work as an attorney and began making frozen treats as a side gig. She’s become known for her quirky flavors, including Thai iced tea, banana bourbon caramel and peanut butter and jam. The shop will serve single scoops for immediate consumption as well as packaged half pints for those who wish to take their ice cream or sorbet to go.

There are two remaining retail spaces still available in the Lumber Shed, totaling 5,253 square feet.
