Backstage: From alt-country to electronica

WASHINGTON – This weekend’s top concerts run the gamut from alt-country to electronica.

Friday at The Hamilton Live, Old 97’s frontman Rhett Miller is scheduled to perform.

His latest release, “The Dreamer,” is a solid addition to Miller’s alt-country catalog.

Friday at The Barns at Wolf Trap, world music fans will want to check out “International Guitar Night.”

The touring guitar festival will feature several top-tier guitarists performing classical, jazz and tango.

Check out one of the featured guitarists, Mike Dawes, and his cover of “Somebody That I Used To Know” below.

Saturday at the 9:30 Club, Big Head Todd & the Monsters are scheduled to perform.

The band has been touring steadily since the ’90s, and its next album release, “Black Beehive,” arrives in February.

Also scheduled for Saturday night at Echostage, Swedish DJ duo Dada Life are set to perform.

The duo has made DJ Magazine‘s “Top 100 DJs” list several times, starting in 2010.
