Families ring in new year with babies

WASHINGTON – Twins were born at MedStar Washington Hospital Center — one 2 minutes before the new year and the other at a minute past midnight, WJLA reports.

At Holy Cross Hospital, a baby girl was born at 12:08 a.m. She and mom are doing well, the hospital says.

And, a Gaithersburg, Md. family rang in 2014 with a special delivery.

At Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, the hospital’s first baby of the new year was born at 2:01 a.m.

The boy weighed 5 pounds, 12 ounces.

The hospital says mom and baby are doing well.

The family will receive a special gift from the hospital – a large basket of gifts donated by the nurses that includes handmade towels, blankets, hats and booties.
