Starr Reportedly Passed On NYC Education Job — Incoming New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio named Carmen Farina as the city’s next schools chancellor, a job MCPS superintendent Joshua Starr was said to be in the running for. According to the New York Times, de Blasio approached Starr about becoming deputy chancellor and suceeding Farina, 70, in a year or two. Starr said he wasn’t interested. [New York Times]

Bethesda Dog Trainer Wins Medical Award — Edward Levien started a nonprofit called Hero Dogs to train and donate service dogs to wounded veterans.
