Airbag Bandit Strikes Near Old Georgetown Road

Montgomery County police carA number of Bethesda residents near Old Georgetown Road and Democracy Boulevard woke up on Friday to cars without airbags.

An airbag thief or group of thieves hit local gym owner Nick Irons’ vehicle overnight Thursday in the 10100 block of Baldwin Court.

When he went to his dealer to get the airbag replaced, he was told at least four other cars came in Friday with the same problem, including one near Kingswood Road.

AAA has said Acuras are among the most popular targets for airbag theft. Tips for prevention include locking car doors.
