WASHINGTON – A furry foreigner has taken up residence at the White House.
A wily fox has made itself at home among the grounds of the presidential mansion, according to a blog that writes about food policies and the White House vegetable garden.
The Obama Foodorama blog reports that groundskeepers had to give up their hunt for the animal during the shutdown.
The fox reportedly has been seen numerous times, especially at dawn and dusk, according to the blog.
A skeleton crew remains at the White House while the majority of the executive staff who keep the mansion running has been furloughed. Plants are being watered, but no harvesting is happening and weeds are beginning to creep into the normally immaculate garden, according to the blog.
Other animals taking advantage of the shutdown to raid the first lady’s kitchen garden include squirrels and birds. No word if Bo or Sunny, the first family’s dogs, are getting in on the fun.
