Councilman wants fast food menus to list salt content

WASHINGTON – A Prince George’s County councilman wants to make restaurants list how much salt is in the food you are eating.

Eric Olson of College Park is behind the proposal, which would target fast food restaurants. He’s hoping this will help residents make better choices and help combat the county’s obesity epidemic as well as target and other health problems like diabetes and heart disease.

The idea is getting a mixed response from residents. Some say it would help residents make smarter choicers but others say it would be a waste of menu space.
