UPDATED 3:30 p.m. Montgomery County Police are investigating the Monday morning death of a construction worker as a construction accident.

MCP officer and spokesperson Rebecca Innocenti said MCFRS units were called around 8 a.m. to a house under construction in the 5700 block of Bent Branch Road, near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Goldsboro Road.

One construction worker died and two others were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

MCFRS spokesperson Beth Anne Nesselt said the man was transported to an area trauma center with serious, life-threatening injuries before he died. Maryland Occupational Safety and Health officials were requested to the scene.

A report from ABC7 says the victim, a 41-year-old man working for Bethesda-based Castlewood Builders, was operating a mini-excavator when it tipped over and he got pinned between the excavator and the side of the house.

ABC7 also reported the victim’s co-workers sustained their non-life threatening injuries when they punched out the glass window of the excavator while trying to free the man.
