Trawick Prize Announces Winners

2013 Trawick Prize first place winner, via BUPA Baltimore man won $10,000 last weekend in the Bethesda Urban Partnership’s annual modern art competition.

Gary Kachadourian took home the “Best in Show” first prize in the 2013 Trawick Prize, the annual competition from BUP and philanthropist Carol Trawick that takes place at Gallery B (7700 Wisconsin Ave., Suite E).

The Bethesda Arts & Entertainment District announced the top four prize winners on Friday during the opening of an exhibit that includes the works of the eight finalists.

Kachadourian won for his portrait of a chain link fence. Adam Hager, from D.C., won the $2,000 second place prize for his “Super Tuff” typewriter and D.C. resident Mariah Anne Johnson got $1,000 for third place.

The exhibit will be open until Sept. 28, from noon to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays through Saturdays.

Trawick, a past chair of the Bethesda Urban Partnership, established the competition in 2003.
