WASHINGTON – The Montgomery County trash workers who went out on strike earlier this week will be back on the job Thursday morning.
Normal trash service will resume, says Dan Locke, the county’s chief of solid waste services.
It’s not clear however how the dispute was settled or whether the union workers got what the were asking for: health care benefits and a wage increase.
The workers are employees of Potomac Disposal, one of three trash- and recycling-collection services contracted by the county. Their strike, which began Monday, affected Potomac and Silver Spring.
The county received a few hundred calls from residents concerned that their trash wouldn’t be collected, Locke says.
The county says residents scheduled for Thursday pickup should put out their trash and recyclables by 7 a.m.
