Va. man cited for loaded gun in Dulles carry-on

WASHINGTON – An Alexandria, Va. man was cited for attempting to bring a loaded gun onto an airplane at Dulles International Airport on Monday.

An officer at the security checkpoint spotted the loaded weapon when the man put his carry-on bag through the X-ray machine, the Transportation Security Administration says in a news release.

The TSA contacted the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police who removed the 9mm Beretta. The gun was loaded with nine rounds of ammunition.

There was no impact on airport operations.

The man, who was ticketed to fly to Paris, was cited on a local weapons charge.
