Kensington water-main break closes two schools

WASHINGTON – A water-main break in Kensington, Md., has led to the closure of two schools on Friday.

The Montgomery County School Department has confirmed that the Steven Knolls School and Oakland Terrace Elementary School are now closed. The broken water main has shut off water in that area.

A spokesperson for the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission tells WTOP that fixing a break usually takes between 4 and 6 hours – but repairs could take longer based on the extent of the damage that’s uncovered.
