Jazz festivals on tap this weekend

WASHINGTON – The passing of Labor Day holiday means the end of summer for many, but not in the music world.

Here are some of this weekend’s highlights:

Friday

Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson take the stage at Jiffy Lube Live. Tickets are still available.
Bluegrass favorites Steep Canyon Rangers play at The Birchmere.

Saturday

The Rosslyn Jazz Festival is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Gateway Park, featuring Poncho Sanchez and the Soul Rebels.
The Silver Spring Jazz Festival kicks off at 4:30 p.m. and will feature Branford Marsalis.
1960s folk and psychedelic troubadour Donovan performs at the Montgomery College Performing Arts Center. Baltimore songwriter Ellen Cherry opens.

WASHINGTON — Do you know what you'd do if an emergency hits? What if you're at work, your spouse is stuck in traffic and your children are in school? There's no way to plan for every emergency, but you can make sure you're prepared for different scenarios, including making a plan for your family and building a kit of emergency supplies.
