Alexandria streets reopen after water main break

WASHINGTON – Some Alexandria, Va., streets have reopened to traffic after a significant water main break caused closures for several hours Monday morning.

The water main break closed South Van Dorn Street just to the north of Eisenhower Avenue until 11:30 a.m. Police were on the scene blocking South Van Dorn Street to just south of Edsall Road.

Also, South Pickett was impassable at the intersection with South Van Dorn Street.

Alexandria officials are advising motorists to avoid the area.
