Stay connected with Park Police during march event

WASHINGTON – Visitors attending Wednesday’s 50th Anniversary “Let Freedom Ring” Commemoration and Call to Action can get emergency alerts from the U.S. Park Police via web, e-mail and cell phone.

Those subscribing to the NIXLE system will receive alerts, advisories and event-related information.

During big events downtown such as Independence Day and Inauguration Day, subscribers have received information about such matters as lost children and especially heavy crowds at specific Metro stations.

To get text alerts from the U.S. Park Police, message “mlk50th” to 888777.

To get web and e-mail alerts people need to register and subscribe online with the NIXLE system.

It’s free to register. Once you’re registered, search the list of participating agencies and look for the United States Park Police.
