Man, 82, dies after crash in Fairfax County

WASHINGTON – Fairfax County police say an 82-year-old Reston, Va., man died after the vehicle he was riding in struck a bus last Friday.

Police say an 82-year-old woman was driving a 2000 Subaru Legacy on Sunrise Valley Drive at about 7 p.m. when she attempted to change lanes and struck the back of a Fairfax Connector bus near Commerce Park Drive.

The driver and her passenger — Webster Griffith of Fieldstone Lane in Reston — were taken to the hospital, where Griffith was pronounced dead.

Police did not detail the driver’s condition, but say no charges have been placed and speed and alcohol were not factors in the crash. Detectives are investigating.
