Snail facials and other ‘luxury’ spa treatments

WASHINGTON – Doesn’t a nice, cool gel on your sunburned face sound nice?

What if that cooling gel is left behind by a live snail trekking across your face?

In Tokyo, the luxury treatment costs around $250 and goes by the name “Celebrity Escargot Course,” reports The Telegraph. Apparently it helps out with dry skin and sunburns. It’s available in a lotion form, too.

If you think that’s gross, have you ever thought about dropping $180 for a bird poop facial in New York City? Called “The Geisha Facial,” Shizuka New York in Manhattan offers the treatment and serves about 100 men and women a month. The mix of nightingale poop and rice bran is said to soften and gently exfoliate skin. Check out photos here.

If you’re not into bird poop or snail goo, getting slapped in the face might be your preference. A massage clinic in San Francisco offers 15-minute treatments for $350, reports ABC News. Check out the video below.
