Dead donors passing money to political realm

WASHINGTON – People are inserting money into politics from beyond the grave.

USA Today reports 32 donors listed as “deceased” on federal campaign records have given nearly $600,000 to congressional and presidential candidates and political parties since 2009.

Under federal campaign rules, donors can make politicians and political committees the beneficiaries of their estates.

But the giving currently must still be in line with contribution limits.
