Gas prices down slightly in region

WASHINGTON – AAA Mid-Atlantic says that the average price for regular unleaded gasoline in the Washington metro area was $3.65, a four-cent drop from last week and six cents higher than the same time last year.

“August is set to be a volatile month for gas prices despite recent price drops,” said John B. Townsend II, of AAA Mid-Atlantic. “Summertime demand for gasoline, expensive crude oil prices, and the possibility of refinery glitches or supply disruptions from Gulf Coast hurricanes could push prices higher.”
