Fairfax County to announce new police chief

WASHINGTON – Fairfax County is about to get a new police chief.

Lt. Col. Edwin Roessler Jr., 49, has been the police department’s acting chief since March. An announcement of his hiring is expected Tuesday morning, The Washington Post reports.

With Roessler’s selection by the county board of supervisors, the Post says the department’s long history of naming a chief from within its ranks remains intact.
