Suburban’s Joint Replacement Department Sets Record

Dr. J. Patrick Caulfield, via Suburban HospitalDoctors at Suburban Hospital performed a hospital record 1,301 joint replacement procedures last fiscal year, making it one of the most recognized hospitals in the area when it comes to orthopedics.

The hospital (8600 Old Georgetown Rd.) has a Joint Replacement Center where the surgeries take place. The number of operations exceeded the department’s projections.

“Or nursing excellence is the patient takeaway and that’s why positive community word of mouth has spread so quickly,” said Dr. J. Patrick Caulfield, who runs the Joint Replacement Center.

The hospital was recently recognized as “high performing” in orthopedics in the D.C. area by the U.S. News and World Report’s “Best Hospital” rankings.

Suburban is the only hospital in Montgomery County to have the Gold Seal of Approval from The Joint Commission, an accreditation organization for orthopedic procedures.

The hospital says the Joint Replacement Center is the busiest in Maryland.
