Fire Extinguished At Walter Reed Medical Center

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services tonight put out a small fire on the 18th floor of the historic hospital tower at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Crews are now trying to contain water damage to the building, opened in 1942. Water from overhead sprinklers has reached the 14th floor but has been stopped there, according to scanner traffic.

No injuries have been reported.
