Duke Street reopens after water main break near Harris Teeter

All lanes of Duke Street have reopened.

WASHINGTON – Virginia American Water expects a water main break at 4600 Duke St. to be fixed by 6 a.m.

The 4600 block of Duke Street is near Harris Teeter and the Foxchase Shopping Center.

The two eastbound lanes of Duke Street are closed while the repairs are made.

A 5-foot section of pipe has been replaced, but some residents in the area are without water service.

Early Monday, the City of Alexandria said repairs could take longer.

If residents have questions about water service, they are directed to call Virginia American Water at 800-452-6863.
