Deaths of Loudoun County couple likely suicides

WASHINGTON – Investigators believe the shooting deaths of a Loudoun County couple on two separate days likely were suicides.

Both shootings occurred at a home in the 600 block of West Washington Street in the town of Middleburg, Va.

A Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department spokesman says detectives responded Wednesday to assist town police and discovered a woman in her 40s.

She was taken to the hospital and was pronounced dead.

Investigators determined her shooting appeared self-inflicted. An autopsy is pending.

The following morning, after the husband returned from the hospital, police were called back to the home.

Investigators believe the man’s death also was self-inflicted.

Police agencies rarely identify suicide victims.
