Man killed in Hillcrest Heights shooting

WASHINGTON – The Prince George’s County Police Department is investigating a shooting death in Hillcrest Heights that they are characterizing as a domestic-violence shooting.

The police say in a statement that Jerome Zephier Peters, 22, of Oxon Hill, was killed after midnight Sunday morning.

Police were called to the 2900 block of St. Clair Drive, Hillcrest Heights, for a report of a shooting at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday when they found Jerome Peters, 22, of Oxon Hill, suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say that Peters was at a relative’s home taking care of his young child when the child’s mother and another man arrived to pick up the child. Peters was shot during an argument during the two men, police say.
