Gas prices down slightly

WASHINGTON – Gas prices usually go up as we head into the Fourth of July weekend, but according to the American Automobile Association, motorists are getting a break.

According to AAA, the national average price for regular unleaded gasoline national average price for regular unleaded gasoline was $3.51 per gallon Friday.

That’s 14 cents a gallon more than the same time last year, but eight cents lower than last week, 11 cents less than last month and 28 cents less than the peak price for this year, which was reached in February.

That’s good news for those who are looking to drive for the holiday, and AAA says that 34.4 million Americans plan to travel 50 miles or more to celebrate the Fourth.
