WASHINGTON – The Virginia State Police is investigating a crash that occurred on the Dulles Greenway at 3:20 p.m. Friday which left one person dead and two injured. Trooper D.P. King was called to the scene of the two-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of Route 267 in Loudoun County.
It was raining heavily at the time of the crash when a 2008 Nissan Altima was traveling west on the Dulles Greenway and ran off the left side of the road, spun around and crossed through the median. The vehicle then continued into the eastbound lanes and struck a commercial charter bus head-on.
None of the 52 passengers on board nor the driver of the bus was injured.
However, a check of the driver’s name revealed he was wanted by the U.S. Marshals. King took Norman Pleasant, 48, of Washington, D.C., into custody and he is being held at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.
The driver of the Nissan, 60-year-old Frank Elliott of Walkersville, Md., died at the scene. His two adult male passengers were transported to Fairfax Inova Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
The bus belonged to Detwiler Coach Lines and it was en route to Reston from Harpers Ferry, W.Va.
