WASHINGTON – Sam Huff, the renowned broadcaster and Hall of Fame linebacker, is retiring from the Washington Redskins Radio Network.

The announcement from the network came Friday night. Huff was with the network for 38 years.

He began his career with the Redskins in 1964 as a player, according to the statement. After being named one of the top 100 players in NFL history, he moved to broadcasting the games in 1975.

Huff and Sonny Jurgensen, his longtime broadcasting partner and friend, were paired up on the network in 1981. The statement says the duo called all three Washington Redskins Super Bowl titles.

“I’ve enjoyed every game that I played, coached and provided color commentary over the last 50 years with the Washington Redskins,” Huff said in the statement. “I look forward to joining Larry, Sonny and Doc on the pre-game show a few times this season.”

Dan Snyder, Washington Redskins Owner and Chairman, said Huff will be honored during a pregame ceremony at a future Redskins game.
