Charity auctions off lavish experiences with Beyonce, Bill Clinton

WASHINGTON – Imagine touring with Beyonce, interning at Vogue or spending the day with President Clinton. Now imagine you can do all that and help a charity at the same time.

Charitybuzz is an organization that raises money through online auctions for nonprofits by offering high-value, extravagant experiences to the highest bidder.

“We’ve sold a day with President Clinton – we estimated $100,000 and it sold for $255,000,” says Coppy Holzman, founder and chief executive officer of Charity Buzz. “Lunch with Mayor Mike Bloomberg sold for $185,000.”

“That’s why I love what I do,” he says. “All the money raised goes to charities.”

Many nonprofits benefit from Charitybuzz’s fundraising, including The American Cancer Society and The Actors Fund.

“We’re very proud to say we work with organizations all over the world,” Holzman says.

Backstage with Justin Bieber at a sold-out concert, driving through Napa Valley in a Ferrari or having lunch with YAHOO CEO Marissa Mayer are just some of the items up for bid.

While some of the experiences sell for a lot of money, Holzman says other times, you can get a great deal.
