WASHINGTON – Merriweather Post Pavilion will be No. 5 in Rolling Stone’s upcoming list of best arenas and amphitheaters.

Merriweather Post Pavilion, the hillside concert venue in Columbia, Md. that was designed by award-winning architect Frank Gehry, opened in 1967. Its rich musical history includes performances by Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and The Who.

Jimmy Buffet has performed at the venue 42 times – the most of any act.

In an advance copy of the Rolling Stone list, Fall Out Boy’s manager sings the venue’s praises.

“It feels great whether there are 6,000 or 16,000 people there,” says Bob McLynn, the band’s manager.

The selection, as part of Rolling Stone’s ongoing “Venues That Rock” series, will be in the July 4-18 edition of Rolling Stone Magazine.
